What They Eat

Majorly, the Bottlenose Dolphin feed on fish, shrimp, squids and eel. They are viewed as smart fish in that they sometimes follow shrimp boats in order to catch and feed on what the fisherman throw away back to the sea. They also take what the fishermen leave behind.

It is characteristic of dolphins to hunt in groups while picking off the fish to eat. Bottlenose Dolphins have been seen chasing down fish to eventually feed on. They can eat as much as 13 to 15 pounds in a day.

These dolphins use high frequency echolocation to navigate waters and capture prey. The prey, usually fish, are stroked using their flakes and thrown out of the water..
